Church of St. Jakub Většího is located near the Wallenstein chateau in Jičín. Newly founded by A.z Valdštejn on the site of several demolished houses of bicycles in 1627 as an early Baroque building according to the plans of G. Pieroni on the floor plan of a Greek cross. Until 1628 it was built under the leadership of A. Spezza, from 1632 by N. Sebregondi. Wallenstein's original intention was a cathedral for a new diocese, but after his death in 1634 the work was stopped. When completed for use, it burned down twice, then was repaired in the style of the High Baroque and consecrated in 1701. The late Baroque facility dates from that time, which has been preserved to this day, the neoclassical façade was not completed until 1867. Above all the side rooms are oratories, one of which is accessible by a brick staircase on the arches of the castle - from the museum. In 2018, the long-term repair of the organ will be completed not only with the support of subsidy programs of the City of Jičín and the Hradec Králové Region. The uniqueness of this instrument is also confirmed by the fact that it has been declared a cultural monument.

Beautiful church, both from the street and from the inside. Entrance possible, it is open.

A quiet place where you can relax from the heat. Small, in pastel, calming colors.
