Vila Bobes

nice place to stay at Kost - appartment spacious, clean and nicely styled. not suitable for disabled persons. nice atmosphere.

After making it a personal goal to visit Kost Castle while traveling in the Czech Republic, I booked an apartment for myself in Vila Bobes. When I arrived, I could not believe that I was only paying 500 crowns (~25 USD) for a night in one of the apartments. My apartment was not only clean and comfortable, but also incredibly charming. I had access to a huge terrace with an amazing view of the castle, which is just a short walk away. The building itself is also very interesting; it still very much retains its original hunting lodge character, with tons of taxidermied animals in the downstairs lounge. Although there was a bit of a language barrier between us (I speak no Czech), the proprietor Zuzana was very friendly and easy to work with. If you take the train to Libosovice station, it is about a 45 minute walk to the apartments. One thing that must be mentioned, especially if you do not have a car- BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. Breakfast is not served, and the only restaurant around is the one located in Kost Castle, which is only open for lunch. Apparently, when traveling to places like this, locals know to bring food with them. I did not. Thus, I had to go hungry for a night until the restaurant opened the next day. For the level of accommodation for the price and its proximity to Kost Castle and places like Plakanek Valley, I'd definitely recommend it. Staying at Vila Bobes was definitely part of the overall experience I had at Cesky Raj.

A little retro, but otherwise great. A place you just won't find. View of Kost Castle.
