The Gothic church stands on Toulovec (formerly Špitálské) Square, probably the longest inhabited part of the city. As early as 1347, the town hospital was mentioned here. Apostles, mentioned for the first time in 1407, when a prominent burgher of Litomyšl, Vavřinec Toulovec, financially secured the hospital. According to legend, he is buried in the church. It is the oldest sacral building still standing in the city, connected to the hospital through a covered corridor. It was damaged several times (during the Hussite wars and during the Thirty Years War), it also burnt down several times, and was subsequently repaired (especially in 1705, 1735, 1775 and 1814). Between 1838 and 1842, a large reconstruction was carried out in the romantic style. The hospital building was demolished after 1945. To the left of the church is worth mentioning a beautiful neo-Gothic building from 1865, today the congregation of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, followed by the house of M. D. Rettig. A beautiful church stands in the middle of Toulc's Square, and it would seem to be too modest and unmistakable in comparison to the temples. Nevertheless, his beauty attracts, originally a Gothic church standing here from the 14th century and was a part of the hospital, which was richly endowed by Vavřinec Toulovec from Třemošná, according to which it is named the whole square.
