Ok
The chapel looks very nice in the evening light. The impression is a little spoiled by the homeless, who shout at each other while sitting on a bench by the fountain.
Nice chapel on the pesi zone.
Florian's Chapel on Florian's Square. I think that's a dignified tribute to this saint.
And who was that?
St. Florian is a Catholic martyr and saint, the patron saint of firefighters and also the profession of working with fire. And beware, it also symbolizes extinguishing human anger. Please REMEMBER.
The holiday is celebrated on May 4, when you will find the name Květoslav in the civic calendar. And Květoslav is the Latin equivalent of the name Florián (also Florian).
On statues, the saint is often depicted as a soldier, side by side with a bucket of water, on the other side of a burning house. Which is interpreted as meaning that the saint intercedes for God's salvation, but people have to put their hand to the work. Definitely a fair division of activities.
The Florian square in Kladno got its name from the chapel of St. Florian located here. This monumental religious building is the last church building designed by renowned Baroque-style architect Kilian Ignaz Dintsenhofer. The construction itself was carried out under the patronage of the Břevnov Benedictine monastery. The first stone was consecrated in 1751. However, the untimely death of Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer in December 1751 for many years delayed the completion of the construction of the chapel of St. Florian.
The unfinished chapel was surrounded by a plague cemetery, which was formed here in 1679.
In the 19th century, for its completion, a public architectural commission was created, which, with the new design of the chapel, used all the achievements made by Dintsenhofer himself. Construction was completed only in 1872.
The author of the main altar painting of St. Florian's Chapel is William Candler. The same artist also created paintings in two side chapels - St. Benedict and St. Prokop.
The chapel underwent a number of reconstructions in 1970 and 1990. At the beginning of the 21st century, the territory around it was transformed, as a result of which Florian Square was formed.
