Svatopluk Čech and Jarmila Novotná Museum commemorates two prominent personalities connected with Lita. Svatopluk Čech has lived here since he was 6 years old and returned here in his works. Jarmila Novotná, singer, was married here and lived here. The museum is located at the chateau and park, where there is a statue of a sitting Svatopluk. The beautiful scenery of Litna is complemented by the church and chateau building.
The museum is located in the newly built premises of the memorial rectory near the church of St. Peter and Paul, where the permanent exhibitions of Jarmila Novotná and Svatopluk Čech are located. One hall is dedicated to the world opera singer Jarmila Novotná, who spent several years in Litna with Jiří Daubek, the owner of the Liteň estate. You can also visit the expositions of Svatopluk Čech, who stayed in Litna in the years 1852-1856 and describes it in his poetic work In the Shadow of a Linden Tree as his home. Part of the museum collection also presents other personalities who lived in Litna - the poet and priest Václav Beneš Třebízský, the priest and pedagogue František Josef Řezáč, the Czech paleontologist, the pupil and successor Barrand Otomar Pravoslav Novák.
