Reconstructed amazing building and interior.
It's currently closed for construction
The North Bohemian Museum is also located on Masaryk Street. It was opened in 1873 as a museum of applied art and is considered one of the oldest in the Czech Republic.
Initially, the museum presented a large collection of exhibits illustrating the achievements of the industry not only from the developed countries of Europe at that time, but also from some eastern countries.
The museum collection is constantly replenished thanks to the generous donations of local philanthropists, as well as competent leadership. And very soon the building of the museum could not contain the collected collections. In this regard, in 1898, a new Renaissance building was built for the museum by the architect Friedrich Ogmann, which is a replica of the Liberec Town Hall tower demolished in 1892. The museum complex was also supplemented with a so-called burgher’s house, which is a typical building from the end of the 18th century.
In 1904, the honorary curator of the museum, a rich industrialist and generous philanthropist Heinrich Liebeg, bequeathed the museum 2,500 priceless works of art from his collection. Following his example, many patrons donated works of art to the museum.
After the end of World War II, the collection of the North Bohemian Museum was replenished with exhibits of other Liberec - Local Lore and Natural History Museum destroyed during the military events.
In the eighties of the 20th century, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out in the museum building.
Segolnya in the museum presents objects of decorative, applied and handicraft art of Northern Bohemia, archaeological and historical exhibits. Of particular interest is the unique collection of oriental carpets, which is one of the largest in Europe.
Unjustly neglected historical buildings in Liberec, I recommend a stop on the way to the Zoo.
The buildings resemble university buildings in England.
Nothing is happening here, it is under reconstruction but it is not moving at all, the Ukrainians are shifting from place to place, it will be closed for a long time.
