Smetana Hotel

I am based in Prague and always put our visiting guests in this beautiful hotel. Located on the river front with view of the Prague castle, the hotel is just 1 minute walk to the Charles Bridge. This former palace has amazing rooms and great service as you would expect from a five star boutique hotel. One of Prague's long-time top restaurant's, Bellevue, has recently moved on to the Smetana hotel property and offers the best Sunday brunch in town. I want to give a special thanks to Stefan, the hotel's GM, who organized a generous donation to the Pink Crocodile (Prague based charity for children) on behalf of the Smetana Hotel.

The excellent staff treated us like royalty! Wow! The breakfast was top notch 10/10, a lot of food- all fresh and tasty. The location- right at the heart of Prague a few meters from Charles Bridge, extremely convenient. Had a view of the Vlvata River and Prague Castle -couldn’t be better for Prague tourists! Bellevue restaurant downstairs was fantastic, staff was very professional and nice, food was very tasty. They know what they’re doing.

Deluxe room (Baroque style) review, from our stay on the last week of August: I have mixed views of my stay here. General thoughts on the hotel were very good but room didn't meet expectation. Firstly, the room was spacious and nicely decorated. There are 2 of these type of rooms and we chose the one which is fully painted (photo included). Bathroom was spacious but a little dated. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Unfortunately we were not informed this room is on the ground floor and located right next to the hotels outdoor eating/drinking area. This meant that from around 8:30am, music was being played through speakers right near our windows and we couldn't open the curtains without other guests being able to see into our room. This issue was made worse by the hot weather because there is no air conditioning and no fans are provided. This meant we had to keep windows open and noise was even worse. The lighting is also very, very dim in the room which was hard for us to read in without having curtains wide open for extra light. But then we again had the issue of other guests being able to see in. Apart from this, our general experience of the hotel was very good. Staff spoke perfect English and were extremely accommodating. They even went out of their way to email a list of recommended restaurants and did provisional bookings on our behalf. Hotel is kept in good condition and the spa area is nice. I did make use of the sauna which was top quality. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel but would avoid this room and any other situated on the ground floor. If booking, do make sure to check this with hotel.

Really nice old palace hotel. Some things were a bit off but they made every effort to make them right. Breakfast was pretty good (included with our stay or I would have probably ventured out to experience some nearby places.) I would recommend getting a Thai massage Location is fantastic, you walk right out are in the mix but we never heard a single noise at night. Picture if from the street in front of the main hotel entrance.

We traveled to Prague in September for the first time. We stayed in 3 different hotels for the 10 days. Each had their good points. Smetana was excellent in many ways. Especially its location in old town. The restaurant and service was very good, the small pizza shop was excellent when a pizza and beer is all you want. Walking the old city was easy after a while. Next trip we would like the room overlooking the Charles Bridge.
