Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren Church. Regular worship every Sunday from 9.15 am.
History:
On June 4, 1906, a great celebration took place, during which a foundation stone for the church was laid on the plot 55/2, where a courtyard called the "Rauscherhof" stood, designed by the Saxon architect Julius Zeißig. Already in September, three bells were placed in the tower, which were in the workshop of the bell founder Schiling in Apollo in Thuringia. The names of the three divine virtues - Faith, Hope and Love - were chosen for their names. The bells completely filled the small bell tower of the church as they weighed a respectable 550 kg (Love), 270 kg (Faith) and 161 kg (Hope). Unfortunately, they only stayed in the tower for ten years, as in 1917 Love and Hope were confiscated for the needs of the Austro-Hungarian arms production and subsequently melted down in the Skoda factory in Pilsen.
The entire church building, including the interior furnishings in a simple Art Nouveau style, was completed in early spring 1907 and the ceremonial ordination took place on 7 April of the same year with great public interest. The church was consecrated as the "Church of the Holy Cross", but this name has never been too much and has been practically referred to as the "Evangelical Church" for practically all its existence. The great statue of the crucified Christ, which, along with the sundial, adorned the southern wall of the church, was also consecrated. The statue and the sundial were removed shortly after World War II.
The number of Protestants continued to rise and 956 believers fell in 1925 under the Chodov Evangelical Church, of which 465 in Chodov. If we can judge from single records and a few photos, the interior of the Chodov church was much richer decorated than we know it today, the front wall was covered by a great painting of Christ on the cross and a smaller picture of the Last Supper of the Lord. A part of the church was a memorial to the evangelical victims of the First World War.
The Chodov Evangelical Corps fell under the Sokolov vicarage during the First Republic, but managed its own register, according to which it had 465 members on 1 January 1922.
After 1945, the church took over the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren and since then, its interior has undergone many changes. However, most of the original Art Nouveau details and architectural features of the building have been preserved.
