Jakub Škoda Grammar School, Prerov

Grammar school on Přerov street Comenius has been here since 1870. Its beginnings - Czech educational institute in Austria-Hungary - were not exactly easy. At that turbulent time, they were conducted by professor and first director Jakub Škoda. His teaching practice was more than rich. He worked at many institutes and it was such a Czechian. He had to face many difficulties and problems, and this was also reflected in his health. In this world he lived 18 444 often busy days (just for the sake of interest, he died on October 28, 33 years before the establishment of Czechoslovakia). Jakub Škoda is an honorary citizen of the town of Přerov, owner of the Golden Cup (on the occasion of his fiftieth) and since 1993 the grammar school bears his name.
