A good place to park your car in the vicinity of the center of Dortmund, Between the Kunstlerhaus and the U Tower Museum for Contemporary Arts. It is a large field, somehow neglected, dusty and it seems to be unguarded, I think that I did not see any guard but maybe, I guess, they have surveillance cams?! If you want a better solution, couple hundred meters further you may discover the parking from the museum, in a modern building...

Here you have to be careful, especially in the dark season, that the car is not broken into. You are also not safe from scratches and parking bumps here. Not recommended if you love your car.

A good and free parking lot. What more do you want and what else should I rate is a parking space 😅

Parking is divided into free, FZW parking and, better, paid parking. I have rented a parking lot with a license plate .. because after 06:30 there is nothing left on the free piece. Unfortunately, the parking lot is often confused with a garbage dump and there is rarely a clearing service due to snow or leaves.

3 schools, the FZW, the Dortmunder U, soon a student dormitory and 2 supermarkets are in the immediate vicinity. Except for the supermarkets, the other institutions do not have their own parking spaces. Corresponding traffic chaos prevails in this free parking lot in the morning. To say the least, it is parked all over the place and also subjectively so that no other cars get a parking space. As far as I know, there are no controls of the parking lot owner or the local authority. Likewise a parking lot lighting. There are also no security cameras monitoring the parking lot. In the evening or after school it is at least very easy to get a parking space here. Part of the parking lot belongs to the company Besser Parken and is not exactly cheap at 4 € per day, which is also not monitored. The only parking possibility is the multi-storey car park at the U tower which is operated by Goldbeck Parking Service and is very, very expensive with up to 10 € per day and is also very, very full at the start of school.
