This stop at Barbarossaplatz in Karlsruhe is directly opposite the modern Catholic parish church of St. Michael with its free-standing campanile and is connected to it by a pedestrian crossing regulated by traffic lights. The name of the square refers to the Staufer Emperor Friedrich, who ruled over Italy and the enlarged Germany in the 12th century and was later called "Barbarossa = red beard" in the 13th century because of his red beard. According to the legend, enlivened in German Romanticism, he slept in the Kyffhäuser and waited for his return to restore national unity. We have it today, even without his return ... but in this place we can remember him! (Like e.g. in Cologne ...)
