We made a reservation online that was not honored when we got to the location. We really needed a vehicle to move and Sixt nearly ruined everything. It was a horrible experience. The website is awful. We were told after the problem had already happened that you can't reserve an automatic transmission online or via phone and just have to get lucky (we accidentally accepted the vehicle assuming our reservation was accurate!). There should be warnings online that they can't necessarily accommodate your needs and employees should look at it in your reservation and point it out too. Basically, you can't count on this company to actually get your reservation right or get you what you need. And if you don't really accommodate automatic transmission needs - just say so upfront! The only thing that could have made a terrible situation less frustrating would have been to not charge us for a full day for trying to figure out stick shift. I do understand that we drove the vehicle for a few minutes -we were in a bind!-but good customer service and the hope of keeping future customers could have resulted in at least a discount if not a full refund since the mistake was on their end not ours. Stick vs automatic is not a minor, fine print kind of issue. But not only did our reservation get ignored, to add insult to injury we also got charged for a full day after only driving down the street. I will say that an employee did try to share the basics of driving stick which was nice of him. I just wish that we would have been prevented from relying on this company when making the reservation or warned when we arrived and started paperwork.
