Cocktail bar in the building of the casino Mainz (belonging to the Hilton Hotel). Very centrally located in Mainz. Just a stone's throw away from the Rheingoldhalle. The cocktail bar is presented separately from the casino with private access from the outside (inside with direct access to the casino). Amazingly cozy decor despite (or because of) the yellow-brown color concept of the 60s. One immediately perceives this, but not necessarily unpleasant. Large counter with bar stools, large and small tables. The cocktails are probably the best of Mainz. The ingredients are not saved. However, this has its price: a Planter's punch, for example. costs just 9.50 euros. So no student prices. Negative: The menu is close to a fast food menu with 2 x sausages, 3 x burgers, 3 x pasta, 4 x pizza (or similar). There is no chef here, but no creative snacks like Paninis. Friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, dimmed light, pleasant background music. All together, the best grade is just 5 stars. Because I do not want to rate the "menu" negative (better than starving). Eating is done elsewhere, e.g. at the best Vietnamese in Town (about 80 meters away). One more word to the bar: In the past there was little going on because of irregular opening times. That should change. Are now also significantly more guests and staff in the bar. Until 3 o'clock in the morning is open. Then everyone has to go. We will be back.
