Alsterhaus

One of the largest and finest department stores in Hamburg. They have everything: From perfumes and clothes to fine food and beverages. I recommend the upper area with the exquisite food and the exclusive selection of wine and liqueurs. Everything is very expensive here.

Witnessed some of the most unique things here. Great shop for watches and luxury brands. It had place to eat and have wine. The only down side is that it has no more affordable brands.

Alsterhaus is a building with character. The lovely view of the restaurant is romantic. Now and then you will find special events. It has a restaurant like the other kadstadts, very good quality. Shops get plenty of offers, though a little expensive.

I'm kind of disappointed. Earlier, I was spending a lot of money in their beauty department. Now, when I was looking for a new perfume, nobody asked me if I needed help. There were not that many customers the day I visited, and the employees were just standing there. I found a perfume I liked, and asked an employee if she could make me a sample. She said that they don't receive any samples from France anymore. What I meant was, if she could spray a little bit of the perfume into an empty sample bottle. She refused. Well, I'm not going to spend 200 € on a perfume without testing it out for a couple of days. I got a sample in another store and purchased the perfume there.

Hang out for older and rich which want to stay in fashion and show off. Selection is good. Service can be an issue for foreign visitors since many of the sales staff do not speak English unlike in Berlin which is more cosmopolitan than Hamburg.
