Hotel Europäischer Hof

First hotel I ever been to in my life. Was staying in it with my parents when I was 9. Can only recommend. Especially the Rutsche. :) And breakfast was amazing then also!

This hotel could have been so good. However, 2 things really spoiled my visit. Firstly, there was no air conditioning. When I arrived, my room was easily 35ºC, and barely cooled down the whole time I was there. Secondly, the free WiFi signal was so poor it was unusable. This meant I had to rely on tethering my mobile instead. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, breakfast was tasty and generous, and they give you a free travel card for the U- and S-bahn and buses.

Advertised as a 4-star hotel, it is at best a 3-star property. The convenient location and good breakfast save this hotel from a 1-star review. While the room was OK, it felt quite dated, and would benefit from a renovation or update. The level of service was rather poor, and I did not really feel welcomed as a guest by most of the staff on their respective shifts (except for the breakfast staff who were lovely). When I said goodbye, there was not even a friendly, or any reply back from the staff, which left a rather unpleasant impression.

We always like to stay at the Europäischer Hof when we're in Hamburg. All the staff are very professional and well-trained. It's centrally situated and the breakfast is amazing.

Outstanding breakfast, staff is well trained. Very convenient location, close to main public transport hub (both railway and underground). Best recommendation for this spot.
