You are in around 9000 hectares (90 square kilometers) of Ebersberg Forest. It is by far the largest contiguous forest area in the Munich region. With 7600 hectares, a substantial part is state forest and is managed by the Bavarian State Forests AöR according to the principles of sustainability. The forest is not a supplier of wood, but also a valuable reservoir for drinking water, an effective air filter, a popular recreation area and often the last place of retreat for a rich flora and fauna. So that the forest can continue to fulfill these functions in the future, the Bavarian State Forests prepare it for the changing climate through natural forest care. Non-natural pure stands of coniferous wood are converted into natural and stable mixed forests by sowing and planning deciduous trees. As a special feature of the Ebersberg Forest, 5,000 hectares are fenced in as a wildlife park. Our special hunting management in the wildlife park enables you, as a forest visitor, to experience game naturally, especially red deer and wild boar. Please remember that the forest can also harbor dangers for which the Bavarian State Forests AöR are not liable.
