The church dates back to the 13th century and has both Romanesque and Gothic styles. I liked the covers quite well but overall I found the design in the nave a bit cheesy. Everything seemed overloaded, too colorful. The artificial flowers and plants disturbed badly and when I went into the small grotto (replica tomb Jesus) all kinds of cobwebs pulled over my face. Even at the window above the entrance, the cobwebs would have to be removed. From the chalkboard in front of the chapel I got the following information: vault of the pseudo-basilica. On the occasion of his wedding, Ritter Johann von Winneburg acquired the chapel belonging to the Dukes of Mainz in 1411 and founded a foundation for the construction of a "new chapel" as a grave lay, the completion of which is to be dated around 1440. The high choir room was built in the Gothic style and expanded the Romanesque nave. Shortly after 1500, with the vaulting of the hitherto flat-roofed ship, another building project began: The redesign of a three-aisled pseudo-basilica in admirable technology (staggered vault under one roof) Domestic equipments: It documents the great importance of the Sanctuary in earlier centuries: such as the Late Gothic Sacrament niche (1470), the scenes of suffering (1520), a Pietá (1620), Bartholomew - the cattle patron - with relics capsule (early 17th century) and the crucifixion (medium rheinisch / late Gothic) picturing: A good example of the room settings of the late Gothic Revival is the painting made in 1903 by Peter Born The church was built in several construction stages from a late Romanesque chapel (early 13th century). A mother of God's statue (softwood, around 1400), who had come to worship in honor of the miraculous image of the miraculous Mother of the Mountain, developed into a busy pilgrimage. Up to 2000 pilgrims came to Marienfesten daily. Today pilgrimages take place in a smaller space. ~~~~ Since this church is a hightlight, especially for the large number of tourists who are there in the season, it should be maintained a little more. Cobwebs were unfortunately no longer overlooked.

A really nice church, which also has a great landscape. Unfortunately, she was always locked up until now.
