St. Bartholomäus

The parish church of St. Bartholomew in Kail, a town of 300 inhabitants, is a real gem of a neo-Gothic village church. Built in the years 1901-1903, the outside of the church is already in perfect condition: clear proportions of all components and perfect structural condition. If you come to the church, especially in sunny weather, you are immediately caught by the many stained glass windows and the many cross ribs in the vault. Internally, too, the condition of the church is very good and, above all, very well maintained. Many details are also fascinating and make the quiet, devout lingering a real pleasure, especially in these times. It is also interesting that the later Archbishop of Cologne, Joseph Cardinal Höffner, was pastor in Kail from 1939-1943.
