Amazing cruise up the Kieler Canal, on the paddle steamer Freya. The staff was helpful, the Captain full of jokes, and gave us a very entertaining narrative all the way through the Canal. The food was out of this world too. Definitely one for the bucket list!!!!
Going down the Northeast Sea Canal on the Freya paddle steamer, that's what my mother had wanted for a long time. Ordering online was easy and straightforward. The bus transfer to the pier in Brunsbüttel is also on offer. Fine! Parking spaces can be found opposite under the bridge. (Here's a little tip: you have to have 10 euros with you for a day ticket in coins)
The Freya travels through the canal from lock to lock for 7 - 8 hours. We loved every minute. The coffee is ready when you step on the ship. The buffet rises from the ship's floor and the delicacies on it leave nothing to be desired. Fish in all variations. Cold and warm dishes. From schnitzel and chicken, steamed salmon and venison goulash, everything was there. And also super tasty. Especially the cake in the afternoon! Coffee and water are included, all other drinks are paid for. But only at the end of the trip. Even the view from the on-board toilet is worthwhile here.
At this point I would particularly like to mention the more than friendly staff. We were served excellently by Pia Ulbricht. There was always time for a little fringe. There was also a friendly and warm atmosphere among the staff. Captain Engel rounded off the whole thing with his expert mentions about the individual bridges and places. His good mood is simply contagious. Each ferry is greeted extensively with three long horns.
All in all a successful day that was worth every penny!
A trip from Kiel to Rendsburg on the Freya - the paddle steamer in the 115th year on water, the NOK 125 years in use. The entertainment for the brunch was excellent. The highlight was a buffet that stood out from the lower deck. There was enough to eat and every guest came to eat quickly. The equipment in the paddle steamer reflected the past.
Old nostalgic ship. Excursions e.g. from Kiel to the Kiel Week or trips to the Kiel Canal.
Beautiful accompanying cruise to the Kieler Woche.
On the ship "Adler Princess" was immediately helped in a medical incident.
Thanks a lot for this.
