Here you not only pay for the lift, but also for the parking lot so that you can even use the lift.
One of the best Alzlaiqat who played in my life the magnificence of Alzlaiqa long time
Oberammergau is a beautiful and unique town in the Swiss-German Alpine mountains.
With an ancient history
It is a pleasure to walk its streets and see the perfect facades of its buildings all painted with images from stories such as Little Red Riding Hood or Hansel and Gretel
The kindness, the politeness, the perfect cleanliness make visitors feel as if they entered Green's tales.
It is the cradle of cuckoo clocks and wood carving and blown glass items are highly appreciated.
We left a multitude of buses from Munich in front of where 2 or 3 city tour companies are. We previously bought our tickets at the hotel or on the web.
You have to book in advance. More in summer and with a benevolent climate.
Although they divide the tourists by language in our comfortable bus (one of the 10 that left) we were a melange of Italians, Spanish, Portuguese and South Americans.
The perfect German guide spoke clearly English and managed as best she could with the rest.
But she was superbly educated and did her job to perfection.
We bought a full day excursion to this town and the Ludwin II castles which are relatively close to that part of Bavaria.
Oberammergau is also known for the high quality and quantity of frescoes on the facades of several of its houses, known by the German name "Lüftlmalerei" and which are common in Upper Bavaria. The word "Lüftlmalerei" seems to originate from the house "Zum Lüftl" in Oberammergau, which was the residence of the facade painter Franz Seraph Zwinck (1748-1792).
The town also has a long tradition in wood carving. The streets contain dozens of workshops selling religious images, watches, toys, and humorous pieces. In addition, the typical Bavarian hats are made locally.
Tourism is the main economic activity of the town, being an almost obligatory stop for tourists visiting the Linderhof Palace and Ettal Monastery, which are a short distance away.
