Gedenkstätte bei Welling

A very old chapel with a wonderful view of Welling and - in good weather - of the Pellenz. Multilingual plaques commemorate the dramatic crash of a British military helicopter in 1994, in which the two pilots were killed. Unfortunately, the weather and the ravages of time have seriously affected the little chapel, which is popularly known as the 'Hochkreuz': for current renovation work on the substance and area, for example, the ailing old wooden cross was temporarily removed. In the current state, the redesign of the site has rather 'made the overall situation worse'; However, this can also be due to the fact that the work (all of which is carried out with voluntary commitment and a lot of initiative) has not yet been completed. Not only then does 'Hochkreuz' offer at least an opportunity to orientate oneself in the area and first of all to discover Welling with its numerous sights (;-)) from a bird's eye view and to explore other destinations.
