The Neo-Gothic church by the architect Caspar Clemens Pickel from Kottenheim is worth a visit, since such a building is surely not suspected in a small town. The building materials come from the region. Luckily: the church was open during the day !! That deserves great praise!

The neo-Gothic church in Welling, which was opened / blessed in 1884, is an extremely impressive building. Slightly above the main street leading through the town, this large church is clearly visible from afar. The patron saint of the church is St. Paulinus. For a place as small as Welling, it is actually oversized. But that doesn't change the inner and outer beauty of this building. Inside, the magnificent, colorful windows with ornaments of various types are particularly impressive. The tower, which is very high for a village church, is approx. 70 m high, including the cross + tap. The church tower with a cross and the rooster on it (symbol of the Catholic churches) was repaired or renewed, as a storm a few years ago caused severe damage. The church is mostly closed and therefore unfortunately (inside) almost only for masses or similar. to admire. I was lucky that the church was open at the time of my visit.
