Herz-Jesu-Kirche / Mayen

The Herz Jesu church is located beside Genovevaburg, the medieval city tower and the Clemenskirche, Mayens Landmark. The church was destroyed during the WWII, after the end of the war was rebuilt and lastly between 1995-2001 underwent a serious renovation. Thus the Altar moved closer to the folk and Damaris Wurmsobler was commissioned to paint amazing murals. It is worth mentioning that Jacob Schwarzkopf‘s (1926-2001) outstanding colorful stained glass windows create a fully transformed and welcoming environment inside the church which is contradicting the cold and massive outside of the building when first viewed.
