Ferienwohnung Traunstein I Das Loft zum Wohlfühlen

What a wonderful property! We are a party of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12) looking for a base from which we could tour the Chiemsee region of Bavaria and came across this gem of an apartment in Traunstein. From the pictures alone, we knew we were in for a treat but, honestly, even they didn’t do it justice. The apartment is brand new but, whilst being modern in its design, the owners have worked hard to retain the original features such as the pictured exposed beams. There are 2 bedrooms - one double which opens on to the balcony where you can sit and look out onto the surrounding countryside and a good-sized room with bunk beds. Plenty of storage room, both hanging and drawers. A bed can make or break a holiday, but these were incredibly comfortable and we each had a good night’s sleep. The modern, spacious bathroom has a large shower and, again, plenty of storage room. The open-plan living area has a good-sized dining table, a stylish sofa and a large TV. The kitchen section is well-equipped with a full oven, hob, large fridge, Nespresso coffee maker and a good collection of cookware and dineware. This apartment is full of indulgent design features and the owners have included many nice touches, with things such as cookery books sharing regional specialities, travel guides and maps, a welcome pack (including local beer, sparkling wine, a selection of teas, coffee pods) and even slippers! The owners themselves are charming, speak perfect English and were full of “insider” tips and ideas for activities, places to visit, restaurants etc. The communication received before and during the stay was outstanding and we were very grateful for their kind assistance. Getting to the apartment was easy. We flew into Munich airport which was about a 90-minute drive away, but Salzburg airport is even closer. We didn’t use public transport as we rented a car, but I know that there is a trains station just 300 metres away. There is plenty to do in the local area. Traunstein itself is a decent-sized town with many shops, restaurants, cafes etc. We visited Eiscafe Venezia and rolled out the door having satisfied our craving for ice cream – I would recommend its sundaes and “Spaghetti” ice creams! It will take you longer to make your decision that to wolf down your choice! Chiemsee lake itself is beautiful, with boat trips to the islands of Herreninsel (home to the stunning Herrenchiemsee palace) and Frauenchiemsee available from various points around the lake. We were lucky to have superb weather and spent a lot of time at the beach in Ubersee, where you can hire SUPs and canoes. There is a fantastic beach bar, as well as a restaurant serving great food and a pizzeria from which you can buy excellent take-away pizza! There is also a variety of stalls and shops selling beach/swim items, as well as bespoke clothing, jewellery, sunglasses and accessories. We also visited Chieming which has a smaller beach but has a smart waterfront restaurant (serving great breakfasts!) and you will also be able to hire pedalos (with and without slides) and a variety of electric and row boats. With its ideal location close to the Austrian border, we also visited Salzburg; birthplace of Mozart and home of the famous Café Tomaselli, established in 1703 and serving the best patisserie we have ever had the fortune to sample! If this sounds as though we ate ourselves silly for 7 days, it wouldn’t be misleading, such is the quality of food the region has to offer. On our way back from Salzburg, we visited Hellbrunn Palace, notorious for its trick water fountains (yes, you will probably get a good soaking!) and impressive early Baroque style. We didn’t take advantage of this offer, but you can get a ticket that combines entry to the Palace and Salzburg Zoo for a very reasonable price. We cannot recommend this apartment and area highly enough – so much so that we are already planning a return visit early next year. Thank you Familie Ringer!

From the first impression it was even better than the pictures. This open living concept with but the retreats for sleeping is so great. We felt like first time occupancy after a complete renovation :) not a speck of dust or signs of use to be seen. We spent our very first vacation there with three of us and absolutely recommendable for families with babies! We were allowed to park the stroller in the hallway and in principle it was such a warm communication with the hosts! Starting with hiking tips to lovely small talk at the garden fence. It was great

Very nice, large apartment with two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen-cum-living-room and sofa from the TV. There is also a small balcony. Everything is very modern and of high quality. Nice landlords are always available. Chiemsee can be reached quickly. In Traunstein you can buy groceries (Edeka, Kaufland, etc.) or have a delicious meal in the center, e.g. Traunstein Brewery.

Super clean and well equipped apartment! We used the apartment for hiking trips and MTB tours in Chiemgau - the great location is ideal for this! We can highly recommend this apartment in Hufschlag bei Traunstein! A thousand thanks also to the friendly hosts, who were available to help and answer any questions!
