The Antoniuskapelle Hochmössingen is a place of pilgrimage in honor of St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of those seeking help. It is located on a hill, exactly on the marking boundary to Fluorn. According to the records of the Rottenburg diocesan archive, the chapel was probably donated in 1517 by a farmer from Fluorn who married in Hochmössingen. The legend, according to which two noble women from Fluorn should have donated the chapel, should not be more than a legend. The statue of St. Anthony is a donation from the former "crown landlady" Christine Maurer from 1927. The chapel was renovated in 1821, 1939 and 1996/97 and painted in 1939 by Father Tutilo Gröner, who came from Beuron Abbey. The frescoes painted liberally on the interior walls tell of the construction of the chapel and tell the life story of St. Anthony. Father Tutilo Gröner proves to be a narrative artist. On the left, Tutilo shows the following motifs: "Two noble ladies donate the chapel in 1517", "Antonius converts 22 robbers", “Hear the word of God, you fish of the sea”. The chapel stands in the middle of a group of protected linden trees, the 6 Antonius linden trees. A visit to the chapel, which is rather inconspicuous from the outside, can be integrated into a walk if you are nearby. Traveling specifically for this is definitely not worth it.
