DHL Packstation 162

One of the somewhat newer packing stations in Kaiserslautern and the surrounding area. After the number of packing stations has tended to decline in recent years, a lot of new pick-up stations were built by DHL during Corona and the lockdown. Hopefully these packing stations will remain with us after Corona and will not be dismantled again. The DHL Packstation 162 is located directly on the Lidl parking lot in Augustastraße. The packing station is located at the far right on the wall of the house. The Lidl car park can be approached from two sides from Augustastraße. If you approach the parking lot from behind, i.e. between Lidl and Karl Hornung through (in the direction of Barbarossastraße), then you reach the packing station directly when you drive into the parking lot and don't have to drive past the turmoil in front of Lidl at the entrance. I'm pretty happy with the packing station here. There are enough parking bays directly in front of the packing station and you can easily drive right in front of the station. Since the packing station is quite far from the entrance to Lidl, the parking bays there are usually not occupied. Compared to other packing stations, the touchscreen works without any problems and also reacts directly to inputs. The lighting is fine. Compared to many other packing stations, this one is located directly on the main road, i.e. you can also hand in a package in the evening without having to drive to an abandoned parking lot in complete darkness (e.g. on Mainzer Straße). So much better placed than most other packing stations in Kaiserslautern. The number of compartments is certainly sufficient at the beginning, but if the packing station has established itself and more customers are using the station, then the compartments will not be sufficient for all customers. In addition, as with other packing stations, I am missing the larger compartments. I regularly have the problem that the large subjects - of which there are only a handful here - are occupied. I can then drive my package or the return shipment to the next packing station and hope that the large compartments are free there. In my opinion, it would be desirable to not only see the current level of occupancy online but also the number of free subjects (and how big the free subjects are, e.g. "L" or "XL").
