At the beginning of my comment, which is as detailed as possible, I want to first mention and explain the fact that not all of the opinions and dissatisfactions mentioned relate to one area of ​​the school. This is due to the fact that the JGHG has developed differently in many different areas in recent years, or not at all, and therefore the assessments cannot be made in a whole context. Personally, as a student who has been at this school for almost 5 years, for the most part I can only speak of the approach to the future of this high school since 2017, as I mostly could not analyze the office of the headmaster in 2016 (Dr. Röhrig), but the School director since 2017, Barbara Grota. I would like to start with the conspicuousness that the school could not present itself positively in many stages of development. We didn't keep up with the so-called "digital revolution". The school still tends towards A4 worksheets, slide presentations and not PowerPoints (not always), a few tablets that have not yet appeared instead of cell phones or laptops and, above all, the Herder Gymnasium has had no WiFi since the promise in 2017. While all of this is the case, teachers, students and parents of this school unfortunately cannot participate in the statement that educational methods in Germany are improving / digitizing. The next important point to mention is the climate policy and "innovation" of this school. Despite the committed, creative and hopeful students, the school management has still not succeeded in taking at least small steps in the positive conspicuousness and in the "Herdergoesgreen" project. This could be related e.g. the lack of commitment to new and important projects, such as Action days, and the limits of the hopes of the students. Fortunately, there are still factors such as the colorful variety at the Herder, the positive impact of the high-quality teachers or, above all, that of some students who at least improve the reputation of the school. All in all, I hope for more innovation, development, commitment in the above-mentioned areas and, above all, an ear for a better, not retarded future of the Johann Gottfried Herder Gymnasium for this school, which is open / ready for special features.
