I know this place since more than 20 years. I have been there today (August 07th 2020) and I wonder why hey do nothing about it: no changes since very very long time. Everything is dirty and old! People are (only 5 persons were there today) can walk without mask and nobody tells them anything. The man who works there was smoking all the time!!!! What a hell! I will never go there again. Very bad!

Horrible place and crowd. Mostly small, sick looking grandpa's with diseased skin roaming the place. Lockers, furniture and place overall looks very old and outdated. Stayed there for 2 hours and didn't like anyone. Not like in other saunas where I already found someone after 15 minutes after arriving.

The Volcano is situated in the centre of Köln’s Gay Village. The facilities are spread out over the ground and basement floors. The changing area, showers, steam room, sauna, semi-enclosed terrace for smoking and cooling off and TV room are on the ground floor. There are also the showers and a cold plunge pool. You can also have a massage here too. Next to the reception is a small Kölnish style bar serving the inevitable Kölsch, snacks and sandwiches. The basement is laid out with various cabins, video area and sling. The ‘busiest’ places are the steam room and the basement area. The Volcano is well known for its ‘senior citizens’. I would say that about 80% of the clientele are over 55. There are of course some younger ones who are happy to indulge the “older gentlemen”. The staff are nice and pleasant and the customers are very friendly and talkative.
