One of the most beautiful churches in the lovely Tauber valley. Small but nice.

Located in the center of Dittigheim, directly on the market square. Parking available. The church of St. Vitus in Dittigheim is a baroque church building designed by Balthasar Neumann under the direction of the engineer-captain Johann Georg Müller. St. Vitus was erected as the successor to a 12th-century three-nave pillar basilica. The foundation stone for the single-nave building with volute ceiling, retracted choir and 36 meter high church tower with onion dome was laid on 18 June 1748. The church was completed in 1752. In 1786, Pope Clement XIII. pass a relic of St. Vitus. In 1846, the altars were renovated and a second gallery was moved. The interior painting was renewed in 1879. Several paintings were painted over. The baroque angels were then dressed in mull dresses. Various repairs were carried out in 1908 and 1909; 1927 to 1930, the altars newly gilded. The changes from the 19th century were reversed during the restoration of the church in the years 1978 to 1982. The Vituskirche with its location on Taubertalradweg is designated as Radwegkirche.
