Synagoge

The Freiburg synagogue used to stand on what is now the old synagogue between the university and the Freiburg City Theater. It was destroyed there under National Socialism. A pool in the shape of the former synagogue reminds her of it. The new building was built somewhat hidden behind the city library, behind the Münsterplatz. My photo was taken from there. Only the "Jewish star" in front of the modern building indicates the synagogue. Restricted opening times see homepage. The synagogue in Essen has been preserved and is now a museum of Jewish culture and life, which guides young people in particular to this part of our liberal society that has suffered so much injustice.
