Good attention, iguenes and responsibility

In the municipal district La Guáyiga, located at kilometer 22 of the Duarte highway, there are around 20 thousand people. The community, which belongs to the Pedro Brand municipality and is located west of the Santo Domingo province, was elevated to the category of municipal district in 2005 by law 64-05. Located five kilometers from the urban center of Pedro Brand, the name refers to the abundance in the surroundings of the guáyiga plant, whose fruit is used in the manufacture of puff pastry. The foundation of the town dates back to the post-independence era. Its first settlers belonged to the family formed by Anselmo Rivera and Estanila Encarnación de San Cristóbal, who settled to the south. In 1861, the Almonte family, who came from the Cibao, settled to the north.
