Saint Vincent de Paul (Pouy, now called Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Landes, April 24, 1581 or Tamarite de Litera Huesca, April 24, 1576 - Paris, September 27, 1660) was a French priest. It is one of the most representative figures of Catholicism in seventeenth-century France. He was the creator of the Conferences of Charity (Today called AIC) in 1617, also of the Congregation of the Mission, also called of the Vincentian, Lazarist or Vincentian Missionaries (1625) and, together with Luisa de Marillac, of the Daughters of Charity (1633). He was named Royal Almoner by Louis XIII, a function in which he advocated improvements in the conditions of peasants and villagers. He performed a remarkable charitable work, especially during the war of the Fronde that increased the number of people in need in his country.
