Had a greattime. The staff was amazing and super friendly. The bar is really nice with an amazing view of the Malacon and beach. Pizza was good.
Highly recommend it to others.
Location is awesome! Rooms could use some upgrade but it was decent for the price and can’t beat the location and the friendly staff!
Do not stay here if:
1. You need a room larger than a bed to stay in. If you have more than one suitcase..this is not the room for you.
2. You want a room with a real door lock on it (that cannot simply be opened using a credit card sliding in the door jamb) or a window that your 5 year old can't open from the outside.
3. You want to get any sleep at all - the door and walls are so thin, you will not be able to sleep at any time of day
4. You want to store anything perishable or say a cold drink (like a small room fridge as promised would have been nice)
5. DO NOT BOOK FOR MORE THAN A DAY IF YOU ARE UNSURE - they will not refund you anything.
6. Do not believe the website. This is very basic - you get a bed and you may have a door on your room (some rooms have no doors)
7. You can get much nicer hotels just down the street with suite-sized rooms for less than $80/night
We moved 5 hours after we arrived, I'm sure they re-rented out our room but would not give any refund at all. Horrible place to stay and would not recommend to anyone unless you just need a bed and you are travelling super light.
I attached the picture of our VIP room with a view - you get what you see in the picture - nothing more. there is a bathroom (that reeks) and on the bright side there is 2 feet betten the bed and the wall where you get a tiny shelf to put your phone on to charge - wonderful...not.
I had booked this hostel thinking that it was going to be a great getaway from Quito on my trip. The reviews online said there was plenty to do, lots to see, and that it was a comfortable stay. However, when I arrived, the gentleman at the reception showed me my room which was a shared four bed dorm style room. The room, at first impression smelled musty and mouldy. When he was about to leave, I asked him where my key to the room was to which he replied there wasn’t one and not to worry that there was a buzzer system and no outsiders were allowed inside. However, this hostel is also a bar so I found that hard to believe. The locker was also not large enough to fit my carry on suitcase so I was extremely worried about my belongings. I went back upstairs and asked him for a new room. He said there wasn’t one. Because very few rooms had locks, I peered into a couple other rooms all of which were unoccupied. I then went back upstairs and demanded a new room with a lock. He finally upgraded me to a private dorm with a lock. It still smelled however it was the best I could do. I tried to make the best of it, and later that night I went to the bar which had mediocre drink deals. There was nothing to do and the environment outside of the hostel was very unwelcoming. I went back to my room, and tried to fall asleep. However the music was so loud I couldn’t fall asleep. I was supposed to stay three nights however I ended up booking a flight back to Quito because of how unsafe I felt. The next morning I woke up to gun shot sounds. I asked the receptionist to be refunded and he said I had to look up the conditions. He didn’t even know the conditions of the hostel himself. Although for the majority they were kind, the wifi was strong and it is really on the beach, I didn’t enjoy the environment or the accommodations at all. I only recommend for a stop over if that and ensure you book a private dorm with a lock.
Perfect location. Excellent staff and volunteers. Delicious breakfast.
