What a wonderful introduction to South America we have experienced on the 21 day tour - Buenos Aires to Lima with Rail South America. Peter Lauffer, the tour director, is a master of planning, logistics and organization. Whatever time of day or night we arrived anywhere there was always a quality guide to greet us. We enjoyed such a wealth of new experiences, extremely comfortable accommodation and great food all topped off with a variety of transport, the highlights of which were the train trips and aerial cable cars of La Paz. We can thoroughly recommend this tour.

Buenos Aires to Lima with Rail South America is an excellent tour. The many places visited ranged from the well known to the more obscure, the guides were very informative, the hotels and food were excellent and Peter Lauffer's logistics and organisation of it were second to none. We've just had a great trip, the train journeys and the cable cars of La Paz being our highlights. We would thoroughly recommend this tour.

We took the 21-day tour “Buenos Aires to Lima” with Rail South America. This tour is amazing. It is uniquely designed, and exceptionally well organized. Before we signed on to the tour we contacted tour director Peter Lauffer, via email then had discussions with him by phone and Skype. He answered all our questions and they were a lot. Yet, we still did not realise the quality we would be getting, from gourmet restaurants, along with the great itinerary which included flexibility and strategically scheduled free time, quality hotels, trains and private minibuses, local drivers and tour guides. Peter, who accompanied us for the whole tour, deserves all the credit for planning and organizing it. The execution was flawless from airport transfers on arrival in Buenos Aires to departure in Lima. We did not wait anywhere for more than 5 min (and usually not at all) before being greeted by a local guide or a transfer guide. He would supply us with a bottle of water each morning and have soroche (altitude sickness) pills and aspirin ready if someone needed it. We had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, stop for photos and other on demand breaks. The tour was very well designed in terms of high altitude adaptation and free time. The three weeks flew by as we and our fellow travellers were able to absorb all the new experiences without ever being rushed or having to worry about logistics beyond showing up at the agreed time in the mornings. Highly recommended!

Peter was a brilliant tour guide. He was very well organised and extremely helpful to all tour members. The photos he shared with all of us were also great.
