The Church of San Francisco is a Catholic basilica that stands in the middle of the historic center of Quito in front of the square of the same name. The structure is the largest architectural complex within the historic centers of all of America and is therefore known as "the New World Dump." San Francisco is considered a jewel of continental architecture for its mix of different styles combined over more than 150 years of construction.
It has a museum where you can see different paintings by the city's most emblematic Quito artists, highlighting their paintings and choral groups. The entrance to the guided museum is worth two US dollars.
I love visiting religious monuments and getting to know the most enigmatic parts of the city. History is breathed in the air.
