Cumbre Norte. Pasochoa

Nice summit. It is not so difficult to get there. And it does not present major technical difficulty. Recommended for lovers of mountaineering. The view is spectacular when it is clear. There are several mountains around that can be seen in clear weather.

Light route but not for that reason you have to trust. You have to be prepared.

Amazing place!!

Excellent view from the North summit. Several volcanoes can be seen such as Cotopaxi, Cayambe, Antisana, Rucu Pichincha, Ilinizas. The route is very good, there are stretches of rock and long paths in grasslands, you can travel to the southern summit and return from the bottom.

El Pasochoa is an ancient and heavily eroded volcano, inactive since the ice age. It is very accessible from any direction since it is partially isolated in the inter-Andean valley; in the middle of the Machachi valley, surrounded by extensive agricultural and livestock fields. Its last explosive eruption left a collapsed caldera to the west, covered by dense forest that is now a protected nature reserve. The crater walls have two peaks. The North summit is the most visited, it can be accessed from the Natural Reserve or from Amaguaña, the summit can be accessed via a gutter carved in the volcanic flow, relatively easy and very fun to climb. It can also be accessed by a path in the pajonal, a little to the south.
