Fantastic place! The food is amazing and the entertainment wonderful. Go catch a movie and enjoy their popcorn! Catch a concert with a great Chilean wine. And don’t miss their lamb, salmon, yucca fries, brownies.. just come eat here. 😘

I highly recommend and evening of dinner and a movie or concert event at La Guarida in Cuenca, Ecuador. They offer interesting films from all genres while dining on delicious selections from a small but flavorful menu. The venue is wonderful for a small gathering to enjoy a performance in an intimate setting.

Special once a month brunch is fantastic. Fabulous healthy food prepared by wonderful chefs.

What can I say? La Guarida is the best all around dining and entertainment venue in Cuenca, hands down. First of all, Andres and Omar make you feel like you're visiting someone's home, getting to know you by name and understanding your personal preferences. Every visit starts with a genuine personal greeting and 'It's good to see you'. Menu orders are taken in advance via WhatsApp, so there's not the typical ordering process that you expect at a restaurant. Instead, your order magically appears while enjoying a glass of wine or other beverage of choice. The food that Andres and his team prepares is magical. Its presentation is only exceeded by its preparation and the amazing combination of flavors. I typically dine on Tuesday night, when La Guarida features foreign films and Thursday night, when there's live entertainment, perhaps the best variety of music in Cuenca - from opera to Cuban, Peruvian, Venezuelan, and of course Ecuadorian. La Guarida is simply amazing!

I cannot say enough good about this place. The food is presented well and taste fabulous. It competes with any fine dining in Cuenca or anywhere. The interior is both intimate and interesting. The art rotates frequently, showing local artists both famous and unknown. The service is personal, the owner/chef often checks with guests about their personal tastes. It is a bit out of the way until the tranvia is up and running, but it is well worth the effort to get there.
