St. Catherine's Church in Pärnu Completed in 1768, the St. Catherine's Church is the most style pure and ample baroque church in Estonia. The design of facades characteristically for baroque disjunct and relief, the six broaches are finished with slender needle-shaped tips that add lightness and festiveness to the building. Since church is built a century before the majority of orthodox churches, it differs from them from architectural point of view but at the same time it has influenced the development of orthodox church architecture in whole Balticum. Interesting to know! Pärnu St. Catherine's Church was built by order and with financing of Russian queen Catherine the II. To this day Pärnu Russian congregation operates in the church

During the visit of the Russian Empress Catherine II to Pärnu in 1763, it was decided to build a church. Catherine's Church, located at Vee tn 8 in Pärnu, was built according to the project of architect Pyotr Yegorov. Construction began in 1764 and the church was consecrated in 1768. The construction was led by architect Vassili Jakovlev. The building is the purest Baroque church in Estonia. The richly decorated, baroque-classicist iconostasis of the church was completed at the end of the 18th century. The bronze tower bell was cast in the 19th century in Russia, in the V. Orlov factory.

The Orthodox Church of St Caterina is close to the park and the library. It is pastel yellow and green facade. Inside the high altar very charged interesting.

Nice to look at but the substance leaves a lot to be desired.
