Pilistvere Church

Really beautifule church and people's are really nice and friendly. I met really nice woman and his dog who are working in church.

This Church is situated in a beautiful village which I would love to see brought back to life again. It is, I think, a special place.

Good old church

Pilistvere Church (also: Pilistvere Andreas Church) is located in Pilistvere village, North Sakala municipality, Viljandi county. The very thick walls of the church were built in the second half of the 13th century. [1] The cross vaults of the church's long building, which rest on two pillars, were completed at the beginning of the 14th century at the latest. [1] In the 17th and 18th centuries, the church was destroyed several times. [2] It was extensively reconstructed in 1762 (from other sources as early as the end of the 17th century). [2] [1] During the reconstruction, a high stone tower was also built for the church. [1] After storm damage in 1905, the helmet of the church tower was destroyed and it was not restored until 1990. [1] It is the tallest Estonian country church with 70 meters and the third tallest Estonian church tower after Oleviste and Niguliste. The church is used by the Pilistvere congregation.
