Porkuni Paemuuseum

Don't let the title fool you, this museum makes for a very information dense yet fun 30-minute visit. The tower is the only remaining part left standing of a fortress from 1479. There's lots to read about the history of Borkholm. You can touch the calcified remains of our common arthropod ancestors from ~400 million years ago and find out a lot about calcite outcroppings elsewhere in Estonia. The lady working there is very knowledgeable and will gladly answer all you can ask.

Very friendly and helpful staff

A museum with an interesting display, it shows well how many things are inside our seemingly boring gray limestone and how beautiful patterns can be! The observation tower on the roof is also nice, but in summer the trees obscure the view of the Porkuni lakes.
