Viljandi Rowing Club is located on the shores of Lake Viljandi. The club was founded in 1980, and in the early years rowing was used as a training ground for the Soviet Union. Lake Viljandi is an ideal place for rowing, 4.5 km long and from 90 to 210 meters wide. Viljandi rowers often use the lake as a training field, and in recent years also in the Estonian rowing team.
