TEMPLE OF NARVA ICON OF GOD'S MOTHER Built in 1999 - 2003 designed by architect Grigoriev. Consecrated on May 17, 2003 by Metropolitan of Tallinn and All Estonia, Cornelius. The lower church is consecrated in the name of St. right John of Kronstadt on November 10, 2001, by Metropolitan of Tallinn and All Estonia, Cornelius. In September 1998, the archbishop of Tallinn and All Estonia, Cornelius blessed the construction of a new church in Narva, and the construction of the foundation pit began in mid-autumn. The initial project provided for the construction of a two-story stone church, but due to severe swampiness of the soil, changes had to be made, and it was decided to build the upper church with wooden, chopped logs. The project of the temple was carried out by the Ivangorod architect Pavel Vladimirovich Grigoriev, he also organized the production of a log house on the site near the Holy Trinity Church of Ivangorod. Technical supervision and further work on the project was undertaken by the Narva architect Andrei Petrovich Prokopovich. On October 22, 1999, with the blessing of Vladyka Korniliy, Archpriest Sergiy Ivannikov made the bookmarking ceremony, and by the beginning of 2000 the construction of the lower church box was completed: the foundation was ready, the walls were erected and concrete floors were laid. In June, work began on the installation of the log house, and on August 14, domes with crosses were raised and installed on the temple. On November 10, 2001, the Metropolitan of Tallinn and All Estonia, Cornelius, consecrated the lower church in the name of St. John the Righteous, Presbyter of Kronstadt. On May 17, 2003, Metropolitan of Tallinn and All Estonia Kornilii consecrated the upper church in the name of the Narva Icon of the Mother of God. The history of the Narva Icon of the Mother of God is connected with the capture of Narva by the troops of Ivan the Terrible in 1558. During the shelling of Narva by Russian troops, the city caught fire, and in the ashes of one of the residential buildings, the images of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas. Until 1940, the image of the Mother of God was in the Assumption Church of Ivangorod, and after the closure of the parish, the icon was transferred to the temple of the Iversky monastery community. After the destruction of the city in 1944, the fate of the image is unknown. Very beautiful temple !!!))) well-groomed area pleases the eye)))
