arva City Government gave the library rooms in the Town Hall and promised to support the purchase of books with 50 rubles a year, 25 rubles had to be supported by the Jamburg County Semester. The library was used free of charge for readers. Even in Tallinn, there was no such opportunity at the time. Due to the lack of money to buy books, every opportunity was taken to collect money: lotteries, charity evenings, etc. Thanks to this work and the donations of the residents of the city, the number of books increased rapidly. In the beginning of the year there were 635 volumes, then in 1905 already had 3734 lips. The number of Russian-language books was the largest in Narva's library at the beginning of the 20th century. As a librarian, Aleksandra Nadporožskaja, who was a pedagogue in education, began working in the first public library in Narva. In the library, he worked for free, if not worth considering the access to the slide provided by the municipality.
