Awesome little museum in the basement. Well worth the 1 EUR to see it all. Beautiful renovation as well and very friendly staff.

Great historic examle

Soviet Realism at its best in the middle of the Sillamäe town, a living museum of the different architectural solutions build in the Soviet Estonia. Beautiful Baltic Sea scenery combined with Soviet Realism is a weirdly fascinating combination and truly worth exploring.

They still have an authentic Soviet atmosphere.

The cultural life of Sillamäe in the late XIX - early XX centuries was quite interesting. If you go along the Tallinn highway towards Narva, then in 500 meters from the city there is a stop of Periatsi. On the right side of it stands a large building, used once for household needs. And at the beginning of the 20th century it was a real cultural center of the town and its environs - it housed a people's house, the initiator of the construction was the staff of the brass band of the village of Vaivara, led by the first head of the orchestra and the director of the people's house, Alexander Veltpea. The orchestra gave concerts, and the collected money went to the construction of a people's home. In 1910 the construction was completed. The first floor was occupied by a hall for "strolling", an auditorium with 400 seats, a buffet. On the second floor there were a bank, an accounting department, a rehearsal room, a society of teetotalers and a sports society.
