This is a place where Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur won the battle of Alarcos in 1195. The commander of the army was then named among 100 greatest Muslims in history of our Ummah.

It is not a big deal but they are starting so you have to lend a hand because these things will contribute, you do not have to pay because it is free and the contribution you make is your own presence, nothing more, that would be your contribution but it could be something in which they did not contribute more money and they would close it and it would be a shame. The more visits there are, the more investigations they will do or that's what I think. The guide who was explaining things to us very attentive and pleasant, you have to make an appointment to visit him for the issue of covid19. Please, since it is free to take a moment of your time and visit it. By the way, if you go in the middle of summer, take water with you because you can't buy there

Guided tour highly recommended. The guide (Norberto) explains the history that the Castle and its surroundings collect with a high level of knowledge and in a very didactic way. It is a wonderful way to showcase our assets of cultural interest and its (our) history. We loved it!!

Beautiful site. It is impressive to know that, at the end of the 12th century, Alfonso VIII lost here a very important battle against the Almohad caliph Yaqub. Only the subsequent victory of Las Navas saved the kingdom of Castile and changed history. A must see and also very well documented. If you do a guided tour, much better.
