A simple station with a lot of memory, since on weekends it is plagued by students on their trip to Madrid or further south to Seville. The town of the station is spectacular and is very close to Cañaveral. There are good combinations to get there from the highway or highway.

The Cañaveral station is located at p.k. 283.1 of the railway line from Madrid to Cáceres and Portugal,nnThe station was inaugurated on October 20, 1881 with the opening to traffic of the Malpartida from Plasencia to Arroyo-Malpartida section of the Madrid-Cáceres to Portugal (MCP) line. The works were carried out by the MCP Railroad Company.nThe Cañaveral station has played an important role throughout this railway history, since a series of factors converged there, which made it a very important railway nucleus throughout the 20th century.nnIts geographical location made it the head from the point of view of mobility of one of the areas of the province of Cáceres with the largest population. This was the reference station for towns such as Torrejoncillo, Coria and Moraleja and their extensive and once populated regions.nnAlthough the station was erected at a point away from the town as the 20th century progresses, a very interesting railway town is created around it, known as the Barrio de la Estación, Fabrica de Harinas, Hornos de Cal, mineral pier , cattle, later wax and paraffin factory, canteen, inn, central office and even chapel, and various businesses related to rail transport. They settle in this location, creating one of the few examples of a private railway town in Extremadura.
