Haven of peace in the spiritual ... and tireless work with those most in need. Place of worship and admiration. Let's help them ... they can't do everything alone. Thank you

It is a recently renovated church, where it has been given a modern touch that makes it more welcoming. A success.

A very nice church and with the reform it has gained a lot. Putting those valuable images into worship helps to be so pretty

They must bring in a new pastor who can be understood when speaking

The primitive church of San Francisco was built in the 13th century, outside the walled enclosure. Later in 1763, during the reign of Carlos III, the construction of the current temple begins, larger and with the classicist forms typical of the second half of the eighteenth century.nUnder the direction of Francisco de Rivas the temple was completed in 1791 already under the reign of Carlos IV.nIts plan follows the Baroque models of the Gesú church in Rome, presenting a single nave with side chapels connected through arches, very small transepts, the absence of towers and the presence of a dome in the transept.nIn 1836, Mendizábal decreed the suppression of religious orders, leaving the church of San Francisco for being associated with the convent of the same name, which caused the loss of a large part of cult objects and altarpieces. After being sold the church was transformed into a workshop for the restoration of carriages.nIn 1880, the Third Order of San Francisco bought the church and convent after 44 years without religious use, beginning the restoration of the temple. In this period the main altar, one of the jewels of the church, is placed.nThe current altarpiece of the church of San Francisco was the altarpiece of the main altar of the Cathedral of León made in 1733 and that for almost a century and a half presided over the Leonese cathedral. At the end of the 19th century, during the restoration of the cathedral by Juan de Madrazo, the altarpiece was dismantled to seek to return more Gothic forms to the temple. The Capuchin community decided at that time to buy the baroque altarpiece to install it in the church of San Francisco.nIn 1882 the restoration works of the church were completed.nLater in the 20th century, several restorations stood out in the years 1964 and 1996.
