It is one of the four churches in Talavera that the Diocese manages, and through the well-known “Talavera bracelet” you can visit to discover its treasures. In theory it opens from 10 to 14 and from 15 to 19nThe first references in which the parish appears belong to the beginning of the 13th century. The church was rebuilt in the 16th century and when in the 18th century King Ferdinand VI established the Royal Silk, Gold and Silver Factory in Talavera, this parish was strongly linked to this industry, since it had its religious function Brotherhood of Charity of San José, made up of the workers and teachers of the Royal Factory.nDuring the Civil War it served as a refuge for Republican fleds.nAlthough its exterior seems little, the interior is very beautiful. The church inside is rectangular in plan with a single nave and the head is separated by a semicircular arch, rigged in brick. The High Altar has an altarpiece from the 17th century of San Andrés, by an unknown author. There is a beautiful octagonal coffered ceiling, an exponent of late Mudejar.nThe choir is supported by two Roman shafts that rest on Doric capitals; its fully carved wooden baluster resembles bobbin lace. The ceramic plinth, probably from the 17th century, belonged to the defunct Church of San Clemente.nOn the walls of the church with the lower body and the lower choir, late Baroque paintings that imitate fabrics of the time have been discovered: damask cloths and brocades tied together by cords with bows, such as those found in the book. factory of the temple that is preserved in the archive of La Colegial de Santa María la Mayor.
