Small church of simple trace originally built in the eighteenth century where it was the highest urban point of the equally small Cantabrian town of Sierra Elsa but deeply reformed, especially in its interior based on a single main nave connected with sacristy refers, well into the twentieth century. Entrusted to San Lorenzo Mártir, the temple participates in the festivities held every August 10 in commemoration of its martyrdom that, although of distant tradition, apparently gained popularity in the late nineteenth century when the town was constitutionally attached to the historic and culturally rich Villa de Cartes, in the economic-industrial confluence between Torrelavega and Corrales de Buelna.
