Small but mighty

** - It is worth stopping (it has a good parking lot) to take a souvenir photo and relax with its views, on one side we see the Eastern Massif of Picos Europa, on the other side the town of Potes and above the Sierra de Peña Sagra ... The Hermitage is in the Romanesque style of the 13th century, and how could it be otherwise, it has its MYSTERY ... According to legend, two shepherds were struck by the fact that a bull was digging very insistently in a place. As they approached, they discovered buried an image of Saint Michael, supposedly hidden by Christians fleeing the Muslim invasion… As a result of the fact, it was decided to build a temple dedicated to the archangel, but in a place more suitable for believers to access. However, and once the construction began, the materials insistently disappeared and reappeared in the place of the original appearance, which was definitely taken as a sign that this was where it should be built.

At the end of the road that takes us to the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, is this small hermitage in a viewpoint with impressive views of the south face of the Picos de Europa
